I'll take a "poke" at answering..."shot" seems extremely violent context of weaponry but non-threatening concerning sports"jab" does not have the same extreme violent connotations yet in most contexts (I'm familiar with) holds a strong level of antagonism."jab" seems more accurate for the experience... but, I think I would rather continue to get my "shots."
