Update on Cambridge

In addition to being accepted to a given Faculty and the Board of Graduate Studies, it is also necessary for the potential graduate student to be accepted to a given college. The University of Cambridge has some thirty-one colleges, and in order to apply I had to select two. During our visit to Cambridge last winter, Jennifer and I were able to visit Selwyn College. It was a delightful experience and we walked away with a strong sense that this would be a good community to be with during our time in the U.K. As such, we made Selwyn our top choice. It was therefore, with great joy that we recently learned that Selwyn College accepted our placement. Here are a few pictures of the college. Enjoy!

Pictured above is the front entry into the college compound. The Greek text translates as: "Stand Strong in the Faith."

Upon entering the compound, one observes the central courtyard. The building in the center is the college chapel.

Here is a photo of the main dinning hall. As you can see, the table is set for a banquet.

On Wednesday, Jennifer and Kiah took a boat ride to the bottom of Murchison Falls. Along the way, they saw lots of hippos, crocodiles, elephants and colorful birds. The rest of the pictures are from our evening game drive.
